NOT TURNING OFF

Spoon at Radio City—who’d have thunk it, right? Especially on the heels of Transference, for sure the Austin band’s weirdest full-length since Britt Daniel and his mates began their slow and steady rise to semi-stardom nearly a decade ago with Girls Can Tell. (The two before that one? Strictly for the hardcore.) However unlikely the scenario, expect Spoon to show and prove tonight; they may not be flashy performers, but they always get the job done. With a pair of indie-identified openers unlikely to enjoy such ample dressing-room real estate again any time soon: avant-pop provocateurs Deerhunter, from Atlanta, and garage-rocking Texans the Strange Boys.
