Most of us would rather be out relaxing than spending A Night at the Office, but Symphony Space promises to make the overtime worth your while. Your co-workers for the evening? Stephen Colbert, David Rakoff (This American Life contributer), and Aasif Mandvi (Daily Show correspondent), who will perform short stories about the drudgery of the 9-to-5 life. Part of the series Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story, the program features an excerpt titled “The Chairs” from Joshua Ferris’s Then We Came to the End, Lydia Davis’s “Alvin the Typesetter,” and T.C. Boyle’s “The Lie,” which may just inspire you to call in sick the next morning.
