PARTY PROS

by

Of all the indie dance bands you can think of, the Toronto duo MSTRKRFT might just be the most indie and their music the most rockin’. After all, they rose out of the ashes of Death From Above 1979, the scuzzy and talented little synth-punk band who were the underdogs in a name dispute with DFA Records. Partners in sound, Jesse F. Keeler and Al-P, have recently delivered a series of high-profile remixes for the likes of the Gossip, Justice, Bloc Party, and Wolfmother (securing a Grammy nomination for the latter), but these pros remain resolute party DJs. Rumor has it that their long-awaited followup to 2006’s Daft Punk–y album The Looks will reintegrate some of Death From Above 1979’s rock aesthetic; either way, MSTRKRFT’s set should be a high-energy ball of fun. With L.A. Riots, Lazaro Casanova, and the Bloody Beetroots.
