MUSIC ARCHIVES

Paul Simon

by

New York homeboy Paul Simon will do two shows to reopen the historic Beacon Theatre after a $15 million restoration—the art deco venue closed last summer for top-to-bottom renovations of its Moroccan- and Greek-influenced architecture. Simon last appeared there in 2003 for Willie Nelson’s 70th birthday show, and his latest effort is a book of the lyrics he’s written over his four-decade career called, not ironically, Lyrics. Stephen Colbert called the book “the perfect gift for people who love songs but hate music.” Word.
