RAPPER’S DELIGHT

by

It goes down in Manhattan at night, but otherwise, there looks to be no funk-faking involved in Queens Day, Mass Appeal’s all-star celebration of what the magazine calls “the greatest region in the history of rap.” (Maybe Citi Field was booked.) Performers include veterans such as the Beatnuts and Prodigy of Mobb Deep, as well as young guns like Big Baby Gandhi and Das Racist’s Heems; beyond music, the evening also promises (at least to V.I.P. pass holders) Taiwanese street eats from Eddie Huang of BaoHaus and a live Q&A between Prodigy and Mass Appeal editor Sacha Jenkins. Feel-good factoid: A buck from every ticket sold will go to the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America.
