The Foo Fighters played Irving Plaza — considered intimate by their standards at a capacity of just 1,025 — for more than two and a half hours on Friday night, December 5. Before the show, fans watched the New York episode of Sonic Highways, the HBO docu-series that follows the band to American cities and explores the musical history of each. The NYC episode showcases the Magic Shop recording studio in Soho (the band visited it in early November), and its owner Steve Rosenthal, was in the audience on Friday.
