The Interview Opens at a Single Theater in Manhattan

Cinema Village at 22 East 12th Street was the only theater in Manhattan to show The Interview on Christmas Day — it opened at theaters in Brooklyn and Queens, and online, too — and showings quickly sold out as the FBI and NYPD monitored the scene and CNN cameras showed up. The film reportedly made $1 million on Christmas Day, after opening it just 10 percent of theaters for which it was originally scheduled. Photos and words by Natalie Fertig for the Village Voice.
