Singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega and novelist Carson McCullers are separated by 42 years and the geography of Spanish Harlem and the Deep South, respectively. But the two women miraculously come together in Carson McCullers Talks About Love, a spoken-word musical conceived and performed by Vega, who inhabits the great author of The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter as she comes clean about life, art, and, well, love. Duncan Sheik, a fellow alt-rocker who has taken the leap into the world of musical theater, cowrote the 16 original songs.
