They’ve graced their party with a name that’s awfully hard to live up to—don’t expect a weekend-long array of world-class masters like at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival—but promoters Famous Friends and MeanRed have gamely put together their third annual Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival. Spread across two venues, BEMF 2010 gathers an impressive array of new talent. NYC’s own FaltyDL crafts post-garage, baroque-dubstep masterpieces that have impressed the sound’s Brit originators, while London’s Sinden borrows from Baltimore and Diplo to create his hedonistic fidget house. Michna conjures Latin horns and hip-hop memories into joyful, minimalism-friendly compositions for Ghostly International. Witch-house dronesters oOoOO offer a DJ set tonight. With Kid Sister, Treasure Fingers, Penguin Prison, Javelin, French Horn Rebellion, Tittsworth, Class Actress, BRAHMS, Lemonade, Creep, Cubic Zirconia, Body Language, Dave P., Star Eyes, PUNCHES, Lloydski, Blu Jemz, Free Magic, and VDRK.
