What to Drink at Bathtub Gin: The Eureka

by

Each week in The Daily Shot, we have ourselves a drink that we think you should try, too.

The drink: Eureka

The bar: Bathtub Gin (132 Ninth Avenue, Chelsea, 646-559-1671)

The price: $14

Ingredients: Plymouth sloe gin, Laird’s applejack, Hidalgo fino sherry, cane syrup, and lemon juice, shaken and served up

The buzz: Pssst. Guess what? We “discovered” another “secret” bar. This one is hidden behind the false wall of a real, live working coffee shop. It’s dark and moody and stylish, in a Gilded Age sorta way. Not conducive to photographing your cocktail, but rather conducive to sultry stares across the room as you sip from dainty coupes. This particular sipper is tart and refreshing, yet drier than you’d expect, with a hint of nuttiness, thanks to the sherry. We wouldn’t call it a revelation, exactly. But, as the name suggests, it may inspire some sort of epiphany. Like, By George! I think I’ve got it! The perfect opening line to lay on that looker at the other end of the bar…
