For years, burnout was worn like a badge of honor. Sleepless nights, packed calendars, and emotional exhaustion were proof of ambition—a twisted measure of success in a culture that equated worth with productivity. But after years of collective overdrive, professional women are rewriting the script. Across industries, they’re rejecting the hustle myth and seeking something more sustainable: energy, balance, and a sense of purpose that doesn’t require self-sacrifice.
Few know that truth better than Marie Smith, M.Ed., CHWC, CLC, CPT, an international mindset coach, retreat leader, and bestselling author who’s helping women trade burnout for balance. Through her Nashville-based company, Golden Hour Coaching, Smith has become a leading voice in a movement redefining what it means to thrive. This fall marks the third anniversary of her company, and the launch of her signature six-month program, the Energize Your Life Mastermind, created for high-achieving women ready to reclaim their vitality.
Smith shares, “Women are realizing that exhaustion isn’t a prerequisite for success. When you learn to honor your energy instead of pushing past it, everything shifts, your clarity, your confidence, your calm.”
She knows the terrain of burnout well. Before becoming a coach, Smith spent years as an educator and personal trainer, juggling multiple roles while raising a large family. The constant pressure to perform and care for everyone else eventually led to what she calls “a complete energy collapse.”
It was during her own recovery, a period marked by introspection, wellness training, and spiritual growth that she began shaping what would become her signature Golden Flow Framework™, a rhythm built around four simple but profound pillars: Nourish, Move, Rest, and Repeat.
Smith explains, “The framework isn’t about overhauling your life overnight. It’s about reconnecting with your body’s wisdom and learning to live in flow with your natural energy cycles. Nourish your body, move it with intention, rest before you crash, and repeat it daily. That’s how real balance begins.”
At a time when “burnout recovery” has become a trending phrase, Smith’s work stands out for its blend of science and soul. With a master’s degree in education and certifications in life, health, and wellness coaching, she bridges the gap between practical strategies and emotional intelligence. She’s also a certified trainer of CIJ The Clarity Catalyst, an eight-week program based on a Stanford University curriculum that helps participants build mindfulness, creativity, and self-leadership.
Her holistic approach has attracted women from boardrooms to classrooms, professionals who, as Smith says, “are tired of living on caffeine and autopilot.” Through her programs, retreats, and one-on-one coaching, she’s guided hundreds toward what she calls “energy leadership”, the ability to direct one’s energy with purpose instead of reacting from depletion.
To celebrate the Energize Your Life launch, Smith is hosting a complimentary Energize Your Life Masterclass, offering two key takeaways: the Nourish & Move Blueprint for steady energy, better digestion, and realistic movement routines; and Rest & Repeat for Long-Term Energy, tools to improve sleep, calm the nervous system, and build lasting habits. Registration is open at www.goldenhourcoaching.com/energize-your-life-masterclass.
But Smith’s vision extends beyond her coaching room. On November 6th, she hosted Music and Mindfulness at Nashville’s Collective615, featuring musician Sadie Campbell, blending live music, mindfulness, and candid conversation about womanhood and resilience.
In April 2026, she’ll co-lead Awaken Your Senses—a four-day women’s retreat in New Orleans designed to help participants reconnect to intuition and embodiment through mindfulness, movement, and holistic wellness. Later next year, she’ll take her mission global with a destination retreat along Spain’s historic Camino de Santiago.
Smith says with a smile, “I believe rest can be revolutionary. When women give themselves permission to pause, to listen inward instead of pushing harder, that’s when they rise.”
Her bestselling book, Heal to Lead: Stories to Turn Your Wounds Into Wisdom, echoes the same theme: that growth doesn’t require constant striving, but rather compassion and presence. Smith’s story, of burnout turned awakening, mirrors the cultural moment she’s now helping shape. In a post-pandemic world where more women are seeking alignment over achievement, her message is strikingly relevant: Energy, not effort, is the new currency.
Ultimately, Energize Your Life isn’t just a wellness program. It’s a quiet rebellion against a culture that glorifies depletion. It invites women to return home to their bodies, their breath, and their joy.
Smith reflects, “Peace isn’t the absence of ambition. It’s the presence of alignment. When women remember that truth, they don’t just change their own lives—they change the world.”
