WONDER TWINS

by

As happily mutated as their wires-and-prosthetics–altered faces on the cover of Love This Giant, David Byrne and Annie “St. Vincent” Clarke’s three-years-in-the-making art-pop collaboration is among those rare recordings you can’t wait to hear/see translated to the stage. Chalk this up to the Greek-chorus effect of the horns, whose presence throughout the album lends substance, joy, and gravitas to songs about mortality, depression, romance, and TV. Rich, nuanced, and a lot more fun than you might have expected, Love This Giant is also the most Talking Heads–sounding album Byrne has produced in at least a decade. Expect Annie-B Parson (Big Dance Theater) choreography that hits the same elevated-amateur modality as Byrne’s most recent tour.
