“Food Lifestyle Company” Coming to Lower Orchard Street

Bowery Boogie has some details about Silkstone, the new tenant at 17 Orchard Street: It will be a “burgeoning special event design, catering, and food lifestyle company.” If the sign in the window is any indication, Silkstone will be a veritable passion pit of gastronomic correctness, “sourcing the finest seasonal and heritage produce from specialist farms.” Also, because “all ingredients have a story,” Silkstone will tell it, or rather, “expose and celebrate” the “integrity of this story.” Put in far more mundane terms, it’s going to be a restaurant serving “modern British cuisine.” And, incidentally, will also be applying for a non-seasonal, non-heritage liquor license at tonight’s CB 3 SLA meeting.
