Josh Kinberg, the inventor of Bikes Against Bush, the funky wireless bicycle that broadcasts anti-Bush text messages, was arrested this weekend. Strangely, the arrest didn’t happen during the Critical Mass bike ride on Friday, but on Saturday, while Ron Reagan was interviewing Josh for MSNBC’s Hardball. “Intelligence detectives questioned me about ‘violent protestors,’ but seemed disappointed to learn that I am an artist and only know other artists, and had no knowledge of any violence being planned,” says Josh on BikesAgainstBush.com.
After spending 24 hours in prison, Josh was released yesterday, but cops confiscated Bikes Against Bush—his master’s degree thesis at the Parsons School of Design—and he faces a court date on Friday and possible jail time. A video of Josh’s arrest is circulating online.
