Some cover bands cover…bands. VIPER cover the single greatest movie soundtrack of our time. That’s right, Top Gun. The six-piece band, with some members hailing from the rock world and others straight off Broadway, perform the entire score from beginning to end, with costumes, theatrics, and killer karate chops interspersed. Frontwoman Zoe “Maverick” Friedman belts it out and all but owns “Danger Zone.” Tonight, they promise to deliver all the low-budget dogfighting and homoerotic beach volleyball necessary to “blow the sunshine off your ass” and jettison you headlong back to the ’80s. David Carl, who previously brought us Gary Busey’s One-Man Hamlet, will open, performing 100 Impressions With David Carl, which is, we’re told, exactly what it sounds like.
