Doris Humphrey, one of the mothers of modern dance, famously declared that all dances are too long. She never saw the DANCENOW Festival, now in its 19th year, which features 10 troupes nightly, performing choice works on a nightclub stage slightly larger than your bathroom. Many of the acts, which clock in at about five minutes each, are funny. Order a drink, a salad, or one of the pub’s great burgers, and feast on pieces by downtown favorites like the Bang Group, Mark Dendy Projects, Jane Comfort and Company, Bridgman/Packer Dance, Raja Feath3r Kelly, Claire Porter, ZviDance, and dozens more.
