It’s rare for YouTube sensation MrBeast to be left speechless, but that’s exactly what happened on Thursday night, August 14 when OnlyFans megastar called in to his TeamWater charity livestream and pledged $1 million.
MrBeast joined creator Mark Rober for #TeamWater, which brought 3,000 influencers together to promote the initiative and strive to raise $40 million in the month of August to provide clean water to millions of people around the world.
Sophie Rain, the top earner on OnlyFans despite her commitment to not doing any nude or explicit content (she’s a Christian virgin who is dedicated to staying that way), called into MrBeast’s live stream that he was co-hosting with Adin Ross and xQc. On the call, she mentioned that she had been looking for the right opportunity to contribute.
“I’ve been wanting to donate,” Rain explained. “I’m just not sure how to, so I’m glad you called me because I want to donate $1 million, is what I want to donate.”
MrBeast was stunned when she announced her $1 million pledge.
“You sure?!” he asked her.
Rain was, responding, “I am 100% sure. This is an awesome cause. I appreciate everything you do and you’re just an amazing person, and I just want to support this because it’s awesome.”
MrBeast (whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson) was ecstatic, telling Rain: “Whoa, thank you! That was not what I was expecting.”
His goal for the livestream was to raise $12 million for TeamWater. Less than 12 hours later, it had more than $10 million in pledges. And beyond MrBeast’s team, the larger TeamWater push has brought in more than $29.3 million in contributions as of Aug. 15.
Posting on X (formerly known as Twitter), Sophie Rain wrote: “call it dirty money, but i still donated $1m more than you did 🤷♀️ thank you for the opportunity #TeamWater.”
Considering how much money Rain has made on OnlyFans since joining (an astounding $80.1 million in two years), her $1 million contribution seems reasonable. It also placed her in the top 20 of the TeamWater leaderboard, a list that includes people and companies like Citadel CEO Ken Griffin ($2.25 million), Kick.com ($2 million) and Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke ($1.5 million).
Rain’s representatives released a proper statement about the donation, stating: “Access to clean water is something many of us take for granted, but for millions of people, it’s a daily struggle. This donation is my way of using my platform for something that matters. I wanted to do something that would have a real and immediate impact.”
Rain also encouraged others to donate, even if it’s a small amount.
“Not everyone can give a million dollars — and that’s okay. Even a small contribution can help change someone’s life. If my donation motivates others to take action, then it’s worth every penny.”
