Charleston chef Mike Lata of FIG is bringing a taste of low-country fare to George Mendes’s Portuguese beer hall. The chefs are offering a four-course, family-style menu ($115 per person) complete with beer pairings from Westbrook Brewing Co. Lupulo’s cicerone will be on hand to talk guests through each pairing. Leah Cohen and Joshua Walker of Charleston’s Xiao Bao Biscuit are teaming up for a special Chinese New Year celebration. Dishes include chili prawns, Sichuan-style pork dumplings, mapo spaghetti, and caramel pork belly. Catering company Great Performances is showcasing the talents of its employees with two nights of food, cabaret performances, and art. Chefs will prepare a selection of their favorite dishes such as coriander-crusted beef, savory pies, and pasteles. Join historic gastronomist Sarah Lohman and cocktail historian David Wondrich as they dive into the legends behind Brooklyn’s love affair with cocktails. Joining them are representatives from the borough’s top cocktail lairs including Clover Club, Fort Defiance, and Tooker Alley. Tickets are $12 for the general public and include cocktail tastings.
