Who says procrastination can't be productive? During the summer of 2009, when Miranda July was struggling to finish her screenplay for The Future, she often avoided writing by obsessing over the classifieds in the PennySaver. Curious to hear the stories behind some of the items for sale (such as an ad for a "large leather jacket, $10"), July took photographer Brigitte Sire with her on a journey all over L.A. to interview more than a dozen sellers. The result is It Chooses You, a colorful book of interviews and photos. At this special appearance at BookCourt, she'll discuss the people she met and sign copies.
