The week after New Year’s is always so dead you wonder why bars and clubs are even open. The best advice I can give you if you didn’t do yourself in on NYE is to just set up camp at APT. The best special guest on offer is at Pop Your Funk. The normally funky and groovy monthly featuring residents Roy Dank, Brennan Green, and their favorite DJ friends takes a hard left for this go-round, with Sonic Groove’s Adam X turning up for a special acid-house set. Get your baggy pants ready. Thursday @ 10. Or, if you prefer something a little more soulful, check out the monthly Rude Movements party with residents Karl Injex, Tyler Askew, and Gamall. Tuesday @ 10, APT, 419 W 13th, 212.414.4245

Chelsea boys will be happy to know that Junior Vasquez has come out of hiding for a new residency where he will once again helm the freak show from 11 at night till who-knows-what-time the next day. The later (or rather, earlier in the morning) you show up, the more interesting it gets. And what do you know—he’s back at his old Twilo stomping grounds. Friday @ 11, Spirit, 530 W 27th, 212.268.9477

Kick off the New Year with a brand-spankin’-new Basement Bhangra—the longest-running (only?) bhangra party in the city, and perhaps the country—with trusty musical guides Rekha and Eddie Stats leading the way. To top it off—not only are they letting the first 50 people in for free, but they’re also serving mojitos on the house from 7 to 8 and giving free dance lessons from 9 on. Don’t just stand there, run! Thursday @ 7, S.O.B.’s, 204 Varick, 212.243.4940,
