Finally, the sun is setting later, the weather is warming up, and spring is on the horizon…. But the Village Voice is already looking forward to summer, because with sweltering subways and sunny skies comes the yearly onslaught of summer music festivals.
This year, the Voice is excited to announce that the sixth annual 4Knots Music Festival will rock the South Street Seaport. On July 9, more than 10,000 music fans will flood the Seaport and Pier 16 for a day filled with indie rockers and emerging artists as well as plenty of tasty bites and drinks to go around.
Past 4Knots artists have included Dinosaur Jr., Super Furry Animals, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Mac DeMarco, Speedy Ortiz, and Kurt Vile. At the 2016 waterside festival, more than a dozen performers will take the original 4Knots stage in the historic seaport district.
Better yet, 4Knots admission will cost you exactly zero clams. That’s right: As part of the Voice‘s mission to bring incredible music, arts, and culture to you fine folks, we’re making this year’s festival free to attend.
So mark your calendars for July 9, stock up on sunscreen, and stay tuned for this year’s 4Knots lineup announcement in the coming weeks.
