The only thing shocking about Amanda Bynes joining OnlyFans is that she wasn’t already on the platform.
The former child star has lived a troubled life after outgrowing the cute-as-a-button characters she first played on Nickelodeon in 1996. She originally appeared on the network’s kid version of Saturday Night Live, a sketch comedy show called “All That.” Bynes was so popular from that show that the network created a sitcom for her, “The Amanda Show,” that ran from 1999 to 2002.
That’s when Bynes transitioned to the WB, starring as Holly Tyler on“What I Like About You” from 2002 to 2006, opposite Jennie Garth. Bynes was also starring in feature films by then, including “What a Girl Wants” (2003), “Love Wrecked” (2005), “She’s the Man” (2006), “Sydney White” (2007), and “Hairspray” (2007).
Her last role was the lauded 2010 romantic comedy “Easy A.” After that, she retired from acting at only 24 years old — and the years since have been hard on her.
“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem,” she announced in a tweet at the time. “If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it. I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first. I’ve #retired.”
It was only two years later that she was charged with a DUI that led to more unpleasant interactions with the law over the years. In 2013, Bynes was put on a 5150 hold for 72 hours at a hospital, which ultimately led her parents to put her in a conservatorship that lasted nearly 10 years.
In 2022 it was terminated, but less than a year later Bynes found herself on another 72-hour involuntary psychiatric hold after she was seen in downtown Los Angeles with no clothes on. Since then she’s tried her hand at a few different things, including a short-lived podcast called “Amanda Bynes & Paul Sieminski: The Podcast,” which was available on Spotify and YouTube.
Last year she announced that she was returning to school to become a manicurist.
“Since I haven’t passed the board exam yet to get my manicurist license, I started back at school to study manicurist theory and to practice doing acrylics before I take the test again so I’ll be good to go when I get a job at a nail salon.”
It’s not clear if anything ever came of that, as later in the year she announced that she was working on doing a pop-up art show with fashion designer Austin Babbitt that would feature both her original art and clothing. The show did take place with many friends and family attending.
But now Bynes is turning to OnlyFans. She posted in an Instagram story that “I’m on onlyfans now! Disclaimer: I’m doing onlyfans to chat with my fans through dm’s. I won’t be posting any sleazy content. Excited to join.”
For $50 a month, you can subscribe to her channel and chat with her — and who knows what other kind of content she’ll decide to share.
