BLOOD BROTHERS

by

He just completed a tour of the States with his sizable psychedelic-soul outfit the Shrines in support of a thrill-packed compilation disc recently issued by Vice, but now King Khan is back on the North American road with the rowdy two-man garage-punk duo he shares with Mark Sultan (a/k/a BBQ), his erstwhile bandmate in the cult Canadian group the Spaceshits. The occasion? A new seven-inch single on Fat Possum, whose A-side—a little ditty called “Animal Party”—might be the most tuneful thing we’ve yet heard from the King Khan & BBQ Show. Tonight, bring earplugs and an appetite for the unexpected. With Golden Triangle and Jacuzzi Boys; also Sunday at the Bowery Ballroom (6 Delancey Street) with the Vivian Girls and the A-Bones.
