Was it manifestation or was it all a hoax?
That’s what some are wondering about Camilla Araujo’s alleged Met Gala appearance.
The Met Gala has long been one of the most major fashion events of the year in New York City (and that’s saying a lot) and this year was no exception. The Met Gala’s 2025 theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” and as always, celebrities donned their finest (or the best that they could get a designer to loan them) and walked the red carpet in support of the charity event. The money raised from the $75,00 a ticket or $350,000 a table event goes directly to fund the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. (It is being reported that this year’s event raised over $31 million.)
The event takes place on the first Monday in May, the same day that the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition opens and has long been a spectacle. It’s not just that the event is attended by the rich and famous — it’s that being rich and famous isn’t enough to get you in. Every person who attends the Met Gala must be invited.
That’s why people were shocked when Camilla Araujo, a 23-year-old OnlyFans star, shared a video of her walking down the stairs of her private jet that seemed to have just touched down in New York City with the caption “Hello Met Gala.” Though she was wearing gray sweats and slippers in the video, she shared a follow up video of her in a gorgeous black gown walking a red carpet. But it seems it wasn’t that red carpet.
Though she was seen leaving the Mark Hotel where A-list celebrities like Cynthia Erivo, Sabrina Carpenter, and Jenna Ortega were also seen, Araujo didn’t actually attend the Met Gala. She was simply invited to an after party for the event.
But that’s not what most of her 3 million Instagram followers thought after seeing her video. Instead, most of them assumed she was invited to the actual event — and they weren’t happy about it.
One Instagram user said: “Met Gala used to be exclusive, now they’re letting anyone in.”
“’Why on earth would she be at the Met Gala? Goodbye,” another said.
One critic added, “So they’re just letting any influencer attend now?”
“Camilla, I love you but creators do not belong at the Met,” added a fourth.
Araujo disagrees with that last comment. She’s claiming that not only do creators belong at the Met, she thinks she manifested this invite (albeit just to the afterparty.)
Araujo said in a previous social media video: “It’ll be game-changing when people start taking a chance on OnlyFans creators and realize how smart we truly are to be this successful. And I promise you, I will be the one. I refuse to not be the one to break into mainstream media. I am slowly doing it. Watch me – I will be at the Met Gala. I will be at the Emmy Awards. I will be more than some bimbo that you think I am.”
While she hasn’t made it to the Emmys yet, you have to give her credit for dreaming big.
