Katie Kitamura Celebrates Gone to the Forest Release at WORD

She'll be joined in conversation by award-winning author Adam Rapp and journalist Sarah Weinman.

On Tuesday, novelist Katie Kitamura reads from her second novel Gone to the Forest at Word Bookstore in Greenpoint. It's her second novel, following a well-liked debut called The Longshot, which told a complicated story of a mixed martial arts fighter over a three day period. Her latest deals again with conflict, but this time around, it's not physical. The story of Forest focuses on a family as they confront interpersonal drama and political strife on their farm in a colonial country. Early reviews already suggest that it's a successful sophomore attempt, including endorsements from both Salman Rushdie ("a colonial world captured in dark, obsessive prose") and Teju Cole ("A watchful and magnificent work"). Kitamura will be joined in conversation by fellow fiction writer Adam Rapp and Sarah Weinman, news editor of Publisher's Marketplace.
