dud—Explosive munition which has not been armed as intended or which has failed to explode after being armed. See also absolute dud; dwarf dud; flare dud; nuclear dud.—page 170

dwarf dud—A nuclear weapon that, when launched at or emplaced on a target, fails to provide a yield within a reasonable range of that which could be anticipated with normal operation of the weapon. This constitutes a dud only in a relative sense.—page 171
