Held at Baby’s All Right, ‘Brooklyn Is Berning’ was put together by the organization People for Bernie and drew in an energetic and politicized young crowd who got to enjoy several bands, a comedian and a few speakers on one of the coldest nights of January 2016 so far. Though Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders spoke at Town Hall in Manhattan on the afternoon of January 5, the senator from Vermont unfortunately did not attend ‘Berning’ that night. The event served as a way for his political machine to raise funds for campaign expenses and as a chance for people to sign a petition and build support so that Sanders’ can get his name on the ballot in New York.
