Yeezy season is approaching, and its surrounding hysteria makes Storm Jonas look like it was little more than a dusting.
Kanye West has just announced the rollout for his upcoming seventh album, SWISH, scheduled for a February 11 release. That same day — a Thursday?! — Madison Square Garden will host “Yeezy Season 3,” featuring the world premiere of the album in its entirety as well as a performance by L.A.-via-Italy’s Vanessa Beecroft.
Beecroft is no stranger to working with West. In March 2009, West attended Beecroft’s VB64 performance at Deitch Studios in Long Island City, and it appears their alliance has turned into a concrete collaboration. Yeezy seasons 1 and 2 — West’s two collections with Adidas — were marked by fashion shows in February and September 2015, respectively, and both featured Beecroft.
The event will also be made available in select theaters worldwide; more information for those showings can be found here. It will be a 2-D presentation, although you may anticipate some sort of Yee-D spectacular.
If Yeezy Season 3 is to follow the same format as West’s previous sartorial outings, West will slice up the event as a fashion show/listening party hybrid. Fans have had a delightful past week due to the Twitter reveal of SWISH‘s track list on January 24 and the return of his G.O.O.D. Friday online track drops.
As if the catwalk couldn’t become more of a tastemaking hot zone, West aims to outdo himself and the culture at the same time. And evidently, New Yorkers love it.
Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 is set to take place February 11 at 4 p.m. at Madison Square Garden. Presale tickets go on sale on January 27 and can be purchased here.
