Best Weekend Food Events: Pinknic, Websy Boozy, Whiskey Fried Classic


Governor’s Island

This weekend, Governors Island will be awash in pink and white thanks to Pinknic, a picnic and music festival celebrating all things rosé. Guests can enjoy a selection of rosés, as well as picnic baskets curated by chef Chris Santos. The baskets — which can serve two rosé aficionados — include a selection of sandwiches, salads, beverages, and snacks. Tickets for general admission are $65 and picnic baskets are an extra $70. Can’t get away to the islands this weekend? Grab a Caribbean-themed cocktail or bite at this walk-around tasting, which features an array of live music performances. Tickets start at $25 and include all-you-can-drink cocktails throughout the afternoon. Whiskey Fried Classic

Pair craft whiskeys with fried, barbecued, and traditional Southern dishes from over twenty neighborhood restaurants. Look out for the chicken schnitzel from Freud and the whiskey chicken and waffles from Burnside Biscuits. There will be over 100 whiskeys, craft cocktails, and beers on hand to sip and savor at this upscale backyard barbecue. Guests can choose from two tasting sessions (1:30-4 p.m. or 6:30-9 p.m.) and spend the day playing cornhole and horseshoes, or even getting styled at a custom-mustache bar. Tickets start at $85. Chef Olivier Palazzo will be hosting Sunday grill-outs throughout the month of July at Loosie Rouge. Feast on grilled oysters, corn, burgers, and Cajun shrimp skewers while jamming out to live music.
