FEAST YOUR EYES ON THIS

by

There’s no need to spend this weekend like every other, sitting in front of your laptop drooling over photos of juicy hamburgers or gooey chocolate lava cake. Instead, drool in public at the NYC Food Film Festival, where you can actually eat and drink what you see on-screen. The competitive event screens and awards culinary-themed films in categories like features, shorts, and food porn, and this year’s lineup has something for everyone, from a Scottish island known for its distilleries (and a single malt whisky tasting) to eight New York chefs cooking for victims of Japan’s 2011 tsunami (paired with ramen made by chef Keizo Shimamoto). And in case you were starting to feel glutinous, part of the festival’s proceeds benefit the Food Bank for NYC.

Wednesdays-Sundays, noon. Starts: Oct. 17. Continues through Oct. 21, 2012
