Looked at the album title and wondered who calls an album "Homeland"? Glad you asked. "Sometimes just listening to myself talk, I think, 'If I have to hear another sentence, I'm gonna die—it's, like, awful...'" Yep, yep. I thought that was a loneliness in the desert thing.

Ed: The difference is that Anderson has never sold Swiffer mops. Devo sold out long ago to nostalgia (the 40/45 yr olds who are replacing boomers in their pathetic ways and boomers themselves since that's their actual age group). Laurie Anderson makes uncompromising art. -G.

Laurie Anderson and Devo in the same issue. That is the type of flashback I like. It's 2010 and the music from the post punk/new wave or whatever you want to call it era is more relevant then ever. Who knew? At the time most people thought it was a silly fad.
