I liked the film.   My father was a violinist in one of the great symphonies, during the time Heifetz was at the height of his career, and thought of him as almost God when it came to playing the violin.   There were always stories about him as a person, which were  contradictory in nature.  I think this documentary succeeds in clearing up much of the mystery.  I feel as if I have an idea what  was the basis for his behavior, and how it all ties together.  Much as it might take a person who has played baseball to truly appreciate the baseball greats, it may be that it takes someone who has worked hard to master this wonderfully difficult instrument  to truly appreciate what Heifetz gave to the world of music.
