One for the Money—not just the title of Katherine Heigl’s latest but also the mantra she chants before every movie contract she signs—allows the actress to finally stretch: Her hair is brown, not blond; her Jersey accent roams freely all over the tristate area. Based on Janet Evanovich’s 1994 book, this punitively dull romantic action comedy tracks Stephanie Plum (Heigl), an out-of-work lingerie saleswoman who becomes a bail-bond agent in Trenton (played by Pittsburgh). She is in pursuit of Joe Morelli (Jason O’Mara), a cop wanted for murder. Bringing him in will net her both $50,000 and revenge for his rude behavior after he deflowered her when she was 17. The tangled plot threads—involving scary, dead, and sassy black and brown people (plus one Asian stoner)—unfold with the same degree of miserable, busy futility as Stephanie’s frequently cut-to hamster, running forever in its wheel. Making even more appearances than the rodent is the Big Gulp; the lady bounty hunter is constantly consuming junk—though at least when Heigl is snacking, she isn’t talking.

I want to go see it but the reviews are holding me back! I have read all the books! Love them even though they can repeat more than I think she needs to. Personally since book one I see Sandra Bullock as Stephanie!

I wish there was a reviewer who was read the books.

I thought it followed along with the book very well, all the points that are mentioned are made out to be bad things, but that's what everyone loves about the series of book. The big gulps, the junk food and the hampster. Yes casting was poor, but everyone else who would have been better was already doing 3 other movies ex. Duane Johnson currently 2 out 3 in post production. would have been a perfect Ranger.

Read all the books. Loved the movie. Those hesitant to see it because of KH, needn't worry. It was a lot of fun!

Love the books - laugh out loud funny. The movie . . . I haven't been able to bring myself to see it, I just can't get past the horrible casting! I have to wonder if the casting director read ANYof the books! I could have done a much better job casting this movie.

...if you read the book, you would know Stephanie lives on junk food...ergo, the constant Big Gulps make sense....
