I haven't seen "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" though I am curious about the reference to Thor's "phony Norse mythology."
Of course it's "phony mythology" (though there's no such thing as "real" mythology being that all mythology is essentially "phony"). It's based on a comic book. The words, and worlds, on the pages are for the most part, entirely from the minds of Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby, with a light coating of Norse myth.
It is obviously not actual Norse mythology, though that's not the same as it being phony, since it never claimed to be a definitive source.
I wonder, when reviewing "Saving Mr. Banks" did you refer to the portrayal of Walt Disney as "phony," because there were a few instances in that film when people that actually met Walt Disney, such as Harlan Ellison, said were total bs.
Though I suspect that you didn't.
