My wife and I come to NYC from Wisconsin for 3 day getaways and we only wanted to hang out in this area as we are not into the tourist spots. We loved mingling with the locals and made some great friends from there. We found Sullivan Room by recommendation of a local resident on our first trip and spent every night there and met the owner Sergei who showed us true hospitality and we became good friends. We have since made several trips back to only hang out in the Village area and spend our nights at Sullivan Room. The big name club scene and tourist spots do not interest us and with all the changes going on there I'm not sure we will be back. If we want high dollar nightlife for the super wealthy we can stay much closer to home. It's a shame that the greed of some people can change what was once perfect. Some things are best left alone. I know we are not residents of the area and have no say on what happens there but in our opinion this is a huge mistake. The Village area and possibly NYC in general will probably not get anymore of our tourist money. I just do not see the point of coming back with no Sullivan Room to come back to.
